Apple Reveals Today

AppleLogoAll of the waiting and assuming can finally end today as Apple plans to unveil…. something. Although pretty much everyone with an Internet connection can probably assume this is going to be the unveiling of the much anticipated Apple iTable (or iPad or iSlate) today is still going to be an interesting day. Earlier this year tons of techno journalists were invited to a special event being put on by Apple on January 27th at 10AM PST. The rest of us will just have to wait for the blogs and Twitter updates.

Previous Apple events such as this have revealed the iPhone, the iMac and various versions of the Macbook – to assume this year’s unveiling will be something like the iTablet isn’t too much of a stretch. With so much already written about it (you can check out what The Elevator Pitch has written about it here) it is almost as if we would be surprised if it it was something else.

But the news shouldn’t come without healthy enthusiasm, especially since a lot of the journalists in the gaming world have also been invited. In an article currently posted on Crunch Gear, a writer has hinted that the new device is actually a gaming console. In any case, these times of the year are always exciting for the tech nerd – it’s like Christmas for Apple geeks.

iPod Sheets

ipodsheetsWith apps galore and basically the capabilities of a lap top computer, Apple’s iPod and iPhone are quickly becoming a mainstay in media and information technology. Although the applications for gaming, photos, social networking and even recipes are amazing in terms of sharing and consuming information, the one function these applications will never reach is that of physical sleep. Yes, there are apps out there that play tones to help you sleep and rest and recharge, but there will never be anything that you could literally curl up into and nap with… Until now.

Check out the iPod Sheets. Although this most likely is not endorsed by Apple at all, the concept is still amazing for the Mac-head. The iPod Sheets come fully equipped with a pillow and lets the Apple enthusiast in your life enjoy their slumber time without leaving the comfort of their iPod.

More iTablet News

We posted some information about Apple’s rumored project the iTablet a little while ago, but recent news may have given the new tech a branded name. According to Mac Rumors, Apple recently purchased the domain www.iSlate.com. The web address is rumored to be the new online home for Apple’s reading tablet that could be released as early as next year. With all of the information leaked about the iSlate, people might not be as responsive as Apple hopes. It is already public knowledge that iTunes carries books, so releasing the iSlate in conjunction with a long list of new book titles only seems appropriate.

The iSlate will be in direct competition with Amazon’s Kindle and the Nook by Barnes and Noble, but if all of the speculation is correct, the iSlate will be much more than a static black and white electronic reader. It is rumored that the iSlate will come fully equipped with stereo sound and an impressive full color screen that can play videos. This opens up the iSlate media consumption to go way beyond books. Although the price is far from being released, journalists do predict the iSlate to retail for around $1000. In comparison to the Nook and the Kindle, the iSlate might seem ridiculously over priced, but when Apple does announce the final specs, you can bet that it will be much more than just a reader.

Will the iSlate join the ranks among the iPhone and iPod? Who knows, but the early renders of the new tech has a lot of people buzzing.
